Meta Verified is a monthly subscription service for businesses and creators on Facebook and Instagram. It’s the little checkmark (badge) you see next to profile names. Simply put, it’s a way to pay for a “digital security and credibility bundle” that was previously only available to celebrities or massive brands.
For Canadian law firms, where trust and reputation are the foundation of the business, it can be a strategic move – not necessarily for the “fame” of the blue checkmark, but for the protection and professional polish it provides.
The Meta Verified Paid Subscription Includes
The paid subscription is monthly, and the more you spend, the more you get. More on that later. These are the main features offered:
- Verified Badge – This blue checkmark on your business page can signal to potential clients that you are a legitimate law firm.
- Impersonation protection – Meta’s systems will proactively scan for and take down fake accounts trying to use your firm’s name to pretend to be you. This is included in all plan levels.
- Enhanced Support – Meta provides 24/7 access to email or chat agent support. This support increases with each plan level. Ie, the Business Max plan offers active case monitoring whereas the Business Standard plan simply includes access to the chat or email with agents 24/7.
- Upgrade Profile Features – This is not available in all areas, or with all plans. Like with the Enhanced Support feature, each level of plan gives you more. For example, on the Max plan, you can add employee impersonation protection, use custom chat themes and get personalized content strategy advice. The Standard plan does not offer these features.
The Potential Benefits for a Law Firm
Credibility and Trust
For legal services, trust matters. The badge can signal that your firm is legitimate. It can help you distinguish yourself from fake or copycat accounts and could possibly improve first impressions with prospects.
This is useful if you actively get inquiries via Instagram or Facebook or if you are building a recognizable brand. I could argue that most legal clients don’t choose a firm solely based on a blue checkmark, but it could help.
Risk Management
This is where it actually matters for lawyers. It reduces the risk of fake accounts posing as your firm and adds monitoring and identity verification protections. This is valuable if your firm name is well-known locally or you have had copycat accounts or phishing concerns. Proactive monitoring helps catch fake profiles using your firm’s name—a real risk if you’ve built a strong local reputation.
Priority Support
If your ad account gets flagged, hacked or you face technical issues, verified businesses get faster resolutions, which are potentially critical during active campaigns. For law firms running ads or relying on social media, this alone can justify the cost as downtime equals lost leads. Keeping in mind that priority, or enhanced support, gets better the more you pay for your Meta Business Plan.
Visibility Lift
Meta suggests (but does not guarantee) that if you have a verified account you will appear higher in search results. This helps people find you faster and engage with your content. There are a lot of factors that can come into play with search optimization so I wouldn’t buy in expecting more leads from reach alone.
What Does this Cost? This is Where it Gets Complicated
Meta Verified offers a choice of four plans for both your personal profile and your business profile. If we are looking at just Business plans, pricing starts with Business Standard at $14.99 per month, Business Plus at $49.99 per month, Business Premium at $149.99 per month and Business Max at $499.99 per month. All are in US dollars. Note: These prices are what is currently listed on Meta at the time of the blog post.
Each plan has different features in each level and there is a separate cost per month for Facebook and Instagram (all plans include WhatsApp). Of course, if you subscribe to Meta Verified for Business on Facebook and Instagram, you will save on your total subscription.
The price for all plans is valid for subscribing one Facebook Page, one Instagram account or WhatsApp phone number to Meta Verified. All plans include the verified badge, impersonation protection, enhanced support, and enhanced profile and search optimization. For Business plans, each of those include WhatsApp benefits including a verified channel (each level gives you more channels), a custom web page, multi-agent (more devices added on each level), and prioritized support.
If this is the direction you want to go, you really need to spend the time to decide what features your firm would need/use the most and what makes sense for your marketing strategy.
So… Is Meta Verified Worth it For Your Law Firm?
For most law firms, Meta Verified is likely not worth the cost unless you rely heavily on Instagram and Facebook for client acquisition, operate in a hyper-competitive local market, or have experienced impersonation issues.
The blue checkmark provides marginal trust benefits that most established firms already earn through reviews, website quality, and lawyer reputation. A checkmark won’t improve SEO or replace content strategy. However, the impersonation protection and priority support can be valuable if those are pain points for you.
Ultimately, it is up to you where you choose to spend your marketing dollars. We can certainly help you decide what makes sense for your firm so don’t hesitate to reach out.
