Congratulations to our client, Warren L. Dueck, on being honoured by the Institute of Chartered Accountants of British Columbia (ICABC) with a fellowship designation (FCA). An FCA designation recognizes a member’s distinction in one or more of the following categories: the work of the ICABC or a similar professional association, their career, community service, research, teaching, writing, and/or speaking. In Warren’s case he pretty much covers the gamut. Warren is a founding partner of W.L. Dueck & Co. LLP, one of the first boutique US tax practices in Canada. Along with his partners Steven Flynn and Laura McLeman and a team of 12 accounting professionals, Warren has been assisting clients with cross-border tax matters for over 30 years. As such, Warren Dueck is considered a pioneer in the growth of cross-border tax as a specialty in Canadian public practice. Often quoted in the media and sought after as a professional development contributor and instructor on US and cross-border tax issues, Warren also manages to find time to give back to his community. Warren is active in his church and, in homage to the many volunteers who coached him during his youth; Warren pays it forward by spending time coaching local high school and college sports teams.
We first had the pleasure of working with Warren on a print ad campaign for BarTalk and The Advocate. The purpose of the campaign was to introduce W.L. Dueck & Co. LLP and their cross-border tax services to the legal profession. More recently, we worked with Warren to produce a new print ad that will make its debut in the April 2011 issue of Beyond Numbers, an ICABC publication. Warren’s attention to detail, thoughtful approach and straightforward, personable manner were clearly evident in our dealings with him and it comes as no surprise to us that his peers would choose to honour him with a fellowship designation.
