Marni joined Skunkworks as Client Services Director in 2005. She has practiced as a lawyer and is an experienced project manager, editor and technical communicator. She works with clients to help them define their marketing goals, identify tools and projects to get them there and then works as project coordinator with the Skunkworks creative team to move selected projects from concept development through to completion. Marni has extensive experience working with clients on branding, website and blog development, print campaigns and custom projects.
Marni is also adept at identifying new and unique marketing opportunities and locating the resources that clients need to fulfill their marketing objectives. She regularly investigates supplier options as well as negotiates and manages client relationships with third party suppliers.
Marni has lots of letters after her name including a B.A. (Honours) in Political Studies from Queen’s University at Kingston, an M.A. in Political Science from York University, and an LL.B from UVic Law. She was called to the British Columbia Bar in 1994 and continues to be a non-practising member of the Law Society of British Columbia.
During her life before Skunkworks, Marni articled at a large downtown Vancouver law firm, practiced at a Vancouver labour law boutique, worked as legal editor for the Continuing Legal Education Society of British Columbia (CLEBC) and established her own legal research and writing consultancy. She speaks “lawyer” fluently and understands the issues that legal professionals face in trying to orchestrate effective marketing campaigns while attending to the demands of a law practice. Marni is a fan of client-centric marketing materials and user-friendly websites and she enjoys helping lawyers transform their experience from generic lists of skills and practice experience into messaging that resonates with potential clients.
Marni is also experienced providing advice and support to in-house marketing professionals who are looking for information on new marketing tools, suppliers for a specific project or who want to explore the feasibility of new projects. She is also available to train in-house personnel on using the WordPress content management system (CMS) and to help them generate content for blogs, news items and updates.
Marni is passionate about supporting local social venture projects and is a self-professed foodie.
