Lawyers for the Journey Ahead – The New Brand

Buying a house.
Having children.
Recovering from an injury.
Losing your job.
Starting a business.
Planning for the inevitable.

These are some of the milestones along the journeys that make up our lives. Big or small, good or bad, these moments are when we need practical and trustworthy advice the most. Lawyers have the privilege and responsibility of helping us plan for the future and deal with the unexpected events that arise along the way. Multi-practice Alberta law firm KMSC Law LLP recognizes this relationship with their new brand and message — Lawyers for the Journey Ahead.

Brand Identity

KMSC Law LLP serves the people and businesses of Alberta’s Peace Country, with offices in Grande Prairie, Fairview, and Spirit River. Their lawyers serve much of Northern Alberta as well as neighbouring Northeastern British Columbia. This includes many smaller rural communities and a combination of agricultural and wilderness landscapes. We needed a brand identity that spoke to this region. Our design is inspired by the area’s rolling hills and vibrant canola fields. The firm has also been operating for nearly 100 years, and the project brief emphasized a desire to preserve some continuity with the firm’s history. We achieved this by keeping the firm’s traditional serif wordmark.

A New Website for a Growing Firm: KMSC.CA

KMSC Law LLP is a growing firm serving a demographically young community. We wanted to build a website that reflected a modern professional services firm that was true to the culture of its community. In other words, these are not your fast-talking big city lawyers. They are experienced lawyers in your community committed to building long-term relationships that benefit the future growth of the region. The home page video starts with a pickup truck, a cultural icon (and practical necessity) in many Northern communities.

Practice Area Landing Pages

Like many multi-practice law firms, the firm’s personal injury practice needed to address a distinct set of considerations. This practice offers free consultations and is testing online chat functionality to improve access for clients who want to connect with the firm quickly. We needed to build-out the firm’s services pages so that they can act as landing pages for future campaigns. As the content for individual practices grows, these landing pages become will become “sites within a site.”

Using Technology to Connect with Clients

KMSC Law LLP is a forward thinking firm regarding practice management technology. The firm wanted more than a brochure of a website, they wanted to improve practice workflows. We did this by offering online chat and connecting inquiries to the firm’s practice management systems. We’ve also integrated the firm’s active social media accounts in a number of ways in order to add a more personal touch to the firm. Retaining a lawyer can be stressful and our goal was to remove as many barriers to entry as possible.

Mobile Friendly

Before the new website launched, 45% of website users were on mobile devices. We expect that this will be over 60% within 18 months. The new website was designed to offer a user-friendly mobile experience. With big click-to-call/email buttons, a fully responsive layout, and emphasis on page-speed, our developers prioritized mobile functionality.

Without further ado, we are pleased to launch KMSC Law LLP’s new website: https://kmsc.ca.

Let the new journey begin.
